WARTS & HOMOEOPATHIC TREATMENT

WART

WART is a skin growth caused by some types of the virus called the human papillomavirus (HPV).
Warts are small, benign growths caused by a viral infection of the skin or mucous membrane. The virus infects the surface layer. The viruses that cause warts are members of the human papilloma virus (HPV) family. Warts are not cancerous but some strains of HPV, usually not associated with warts, have been linked with cancer formation.
Warts are contagious from person to person and from one area of the body to another on the same person.

Warts can grow anywhere on the body. They are most common among children and young adults.

Ø TYPES OF WARTS
·       Common warts. Usually found on fingers, hands, knees, and elbows, a common wart is a small, hard bump that's dome-shaped and usually grayish-brown. It has a rough surface that may look like the head of a cauliflower, with black dots inside.

·       Flat warts.
These are about the size of a pinhead, are smoother than other kinds of warts, and have flat tops. Flat warts may be pink, light brown, or yellow. Most kids who get flat warts have them on their faces, but they can also grow on arms, knees, or hands and can appear in clusters.

·       Plantar warts.
Found on the bottom of the foot, plantar warts can be very uncomfortable — like walking on a small stone.

·       Filiform warts.
These have a finger-like shape, are usually flesh-colored, and often grow on or around the mouth, eyes, or nose.

·       Periungual warts
grow under and around the toenails and fingernails. They look like rough bumps with an uneven surface and border. They can affect nail growth.
Sometimes warts are sexually transmitted and appear in the genital area, but most warts appear on the fingers, hands, and feet.

Ø MODE OF SPREAD
·       Warts are easily spread by direct contact with a human papillomavirus.
·       touching the wart and then another part of your body.
·       infect another person by sharing towels, razors, or other personal items.
·       After contact with HPV, it can take many months of slow growth beneath the skin before notice a wart.
.
SYMPTOMS
·       Warts come in a wide range of shapes and sizes.
·       A wart may be a bump with a rough surface, or it may be flat and smooth.
·       Tiny blood vessels grow into the core of the wart to supply it with blood.
·       In both common and plantar warts, these blood vessels may look like dark dots in the wart's center.
·       In most cases, the skin lines and creases over the wart look distorted.
